Biometrics Standards and Face Image Format for Data Interchange - a Review

چکیده
A biometric system is essentially a pattern recognition system. It compares the feature set data against the set of templates. Initially the biometric data is acquired from the subject, and from the acquired data the feature sets are extracted, these feature sets are used for comparison. With the ever-growing use of biometrics, it is the utmost need to use standard biometric systems. The biometric standards simplifies otherwise complicated choices, enables large scale integration, promote longevity and enables interoperability of the biometric systems. ISO/IEC has developed the biometric standards for all modalities. The part-5 of it contains the FaceImage Format for Data Interchange. It defines specifically a standard scheme for codifying data, describing human faces within a compliant data-structure. In order to enable applications that run on a variety of devices, including those with limited resources and to improve face recognition accuracy; the specification describes not only the data format, but also additional requirements, namely: scene constraints; photographic properties; digital image attributes.

Standard audio format encapsulation (SAFE)
One characteristic that distinguishes speaker recognition (identification, verification, classification, tracking, etc.) from other biometrics is that it is designed to operate with devices and over channels that were created for other technologies and functions. That characteristic supports broad, inexpensive, and speedy deployments. The explosion of mobile devices has exacerbated the mismatch...
متن کاملFace Recognition in Uncontrolled Condition: Can Compressive Sensing and Super-Resolution Meet the Challenge?
This paper is concerned with face recognition under uncontrolled conditions, e.g. at a distance in surveillance scenarios, and post-rioting forensic, whereby captured face images are severely degraded/blurred and of low resolution. This is a tough challenge due to many factors including difficulties in determining a model for image degradation that encompasses a range of realistic capturing con...
متن کاملJPSearch: New international standard providing interoperable framework for image search and sharing
For the last 15 years, there has been various research and great advances in the field of content-based search and retrieval of images. In this paper, we present an overview of the JPSearch Standard, which is a recently published set of international standards providing interoperable framework for image search and sharing. The JPSearch standard is composed of six parts, which are Part 1: System...

متن کاملMetadata for images: emerging practice and standards
The effective organisation and retrieval of digital images in a networked environment will depend upon the development and use of relevant metadata standards. This paper will discuss metadata formats and digital images with particular reference to the Dublin Core initiative and the standard developed by the Consortium for the Computer Interchange of Museum Information (CIMI). Issues relating to...
